Project: Short memoir, 11,300 words

Client: R. Johns @ Jill Lawrence, retired teacher, Malaysia

Service: Developmental editing, line editing, rewriting

Contributions:

(1) Developmental edits: Suggested alternative titles for the book and its chapters to attract a wider readership. Rearranged story sections for better flow. Wrote transition sentences at the start and close of chapters.

(2) Line edits: Improved the story’s pace by identifying unnecessary details and tightening the prose. Contextualized details for non-Malaysian readers. Gave alternatives to frequently used words and expressions.

(3) Rewriting: Rewrote minor chapters (the preface, conclusion, and appendices) to suit a wider audience.
